START ----------------------------------------------- 02/08/2008 12:15pm- TEST NOTES ----------------------------------------------- ROOT NODE TESTS max name for map root name at what point does the map name become unreadable? - used perlclip to create 10 chars, 100 chars, 1000 chars in increasing succession used 100 chars and incremented by 100s, went up to 1000 chars and view was still readable used split feature on edit long node its unclear what the split feature does other than wipe out all text entered? will want to review doc later for what this feature should do used revert successfully to restore value entered also used undo and redo which works as toggle buttons for undo and redo appear to duplicate functionality of revert extended pasting of 1000 chars encounters buffering in keyboard app appears frozen got stop watch to begin recording timings - approx 40 second delay before paste operation was complete attempted to export branch on map that only has root message appears at bottom of screen, could not export branch was able to export in HTML, browser view appeared (screen capture) began to notice overall slow performance in application added 1000+ chars in branch and noticed root node circle 'round text begins to cut into text see (screen capture) CHILD NODE TESTS added child with large gif file attempted to change view to user defined to see if I could find a view less than 50% but was not able - note to view doc later to determine how "user defined" for image size is set - could find boundaries at upper and lower limits there copied entire image from child, pasted, second attempt to pastee and the app began to chug, used stop watch and time was 35 seconds before screen refreshed time check: 12:45 explore user preferences for boundaries note I do not see reset to default button available, I'll capture settings before changing so I can reset values, see no change in app, check doc and find app must be restarted find message re: probably have to restart interesting, (screen capture) find setting to change links to absolute vs relative tried and confirmed setting be interesting to see what happens if absolute path given but connection is down, will app handle? new map child nodes as images - what are limitations able to insert one image in a node, not able to insert more this could be a limitation if I wanted the tool to hold multiple "frames" as a I test through a path will try nested nodes to see if this resolves the need of multi images clicked on node and found the app will toggle from image to path/file name, nice feature - unexpected with multiple images and nodes, will export to PNG file no issue encountered select child node w image, was able to edit node and add text to image node app appears hung, turn stop watch on and will review notes while waiting has been 4 minutes - will kill app and restart used task manager to kill app, having difficult forcing shut down restart app and attempt operation again appears once an image is inserted, editing in long mode and adding significant text hangs the app would be practical to have some text with an image so I can record steps and screen shot - perhaps sub branch to record steps? time check: 1:20pm attempt to use zoom to fit page but it appears there is another boundary, cannot manipulate views when I've edited an image node and added text forced to shut down app again again, difficult to kill app, have to select process mulitple times discovered unable to insert images until map is saved interesting limitation time check: 1:30pm where I am against my charter? one more map with images able to add text to smaller image and text appears with image not able to use html tags to break text unclear where limits of graphic and text on a single node breaks noting aware of limit and moving on one more map with text strings using perlclip use to go nested branches, where are the limits value - counterstring 256 W Most recently used file list is now populated - good time to review found list of files is not in order used unclear what order the files appear in encountered max file name and received error message re: screen shot increased view to 400% and select Bold for all text, is there a screen limit I can encounter added color to text added clouds fold all and unfold all - does the display encounter issues collapsing and populating with "heavy" nodes use back and forward arrow buttons on toolbar, these navigate back and forth across MRU list, can I navigate with speed and encounter issue? CPU chugging, catpure Task Manager view - app shuts down with no error time check: 1:50! IDEAS not explored yet file size tracking memory and CPU throughout session finding limits on errors encountered, I know where issues are encountered but don't have specific measurements !
