Part 1 - 30 minutes from 31/01/2008 18:38:54 to 31/01/2008 18:48:07 - Actually 10, can't start FM!

Abortive session - FM won't start - perhaps because it's trying to open a previous file (see earlier sessions), but that file causes it to crash... Where could the file be?

Snap01 - problem opening missing mm

! crashes on opening - old large file left about? Can't eject it 'in use'... javaw.exe - does PE tell me what files arre open?? Three instances of javaw... largest PID? All have same set... Kill all 3, try restating FM - still won't start - kill again - E still won't eject - PE search for disk name in file path - nothing - pull USB key - Freemind still won't start - restart machine.

?? where are the console logs on a windows box????

Part 2 - from 31/01/2008 18:54:23 to 31/01/2008 19:03:46 - 10 minutes getting MM to start up again

try to start FM - won't start - leaves javaw process + starts zombies. USB key out - so is there a spare .mm file around?

Yup - lots. Most recent - 65K, shows up twice (!?) in 'My Documents'. Move it somewhere . . . Lots of others in hidden folder James/.freemind . . . could be one of those. COpied to USB stick - deleted from HD. Inspect the XML: It has the 65K pasted-in node.

FM now says an error occurred opening that mm, so it was trying to open an old one (without asking, and failing dis-gracefully - increase weight of earlier bug RobBug009).

Hit OK - now mm opens - and I have to head off to a Bulgarian Lesson. Nuts.

Notice - "Map was automatically saved..." msg for the .freemind location. Does this ever get cleared out?

!! 65 K too small - easily covered by parts of log file, text file, html page. Why OK inserting big images? Are they actually inserted? Is this a text field problem??? Clearly rubbish for use as an ET logging tool.

note - still have 3x javaw.exes running - may be cause of intermittent problems? Process explorer reveals plenty of freemind files open - 2 reaminging javaw.exe have what looks to be a duplicate set - all executable, so probably not writable and can be open dup... - ask windows guru to check

Problem changing window size - created a child node, went to max winsize, and formatting went awry. pic: Snapo02 didn't catch it - on camera - unstable with action on other programs, related to size of window when expanded

RobBug011 - drawing error when maximising window while editing text. While editing child text in a one-child map, maximise window - text is misplaced on-screen. Note: text placed correctly on screen redraw. Size of mis-placed text may be related to initial window size. - can't be captured as cap program caused re-draw which removed the problem. RobBug012 - when returning to window size from maximisd size, window is not re-drawn smaller (should return to original size pre maximise) but keeps its maximised dimensions - and is partly hidden behind the base bar. This makes it hard to drag corners to re-size. May prove more frustrating on mac version (if same bug is present) as only BRH corner can be dragged on Mac.Snap 03 - bottom corners lost

$allchars - doesn't show initial invisibles, open XML - it's gone in as a 'mailto' because of an @ sign - does everything with an @ sign go as a mailto?? Not if it's got more than one, or if it's got a space - so one @ in a string is treated as a mail address.

RobBug014 - if node text is a string with no spaces and one @ sign, it is interpreted as an email address, and the xml is set to contain a mailto: May cause problems with legitimate non-mail strings, as link is an active HTML email link, and opens default mail app.

tried a 32768 string - still had problems when opening up 'Edit Long node...' box - CPU maxed. Might be worse after number of times tried - restart FM

RobBug015 - text input field responds poorly to long strings. For long strings, when opening the 'edit long node...' window and performing a 'select all;, the the machine is unresponsive with max CPU for seconds to minutes. Particularly noticable for text longer then 16K, unusable at 32K, crashes at 64K. Other text operations can have a similar effect. Note: attached pictures of 1MB and more do not cause this problem.

look at max/min size of map - known problem in zoom will make life difficult

other elements - have done icons, node text. Not touched central text, or map parameters

look at max/min no.children, no. siblings. - up to 50, some drawing issues, none significant. try hitting key - can estimate number from height of sibling (approx 1cm per 10) / size of scrollbar. Stopped ~350+ children - zoom box contains no number, scrolling slow, CPU maxed out, application menus failing. Hit close button aft 3 mins - gat save dialog up, but empty. whole machine has problems

RobBug016 - application becomes un-responsive when scrolling across a map with a very long children chain (350+). Menus, drop-down selections and dialig boxes were not drawn completely. Note: Application returned to functionality (and drew screen correctly) once scroll target reached.
